Frequently asked questions
Where is Moshono Hillside?
We're on Mchomba Road in the Moshono area, about 5 km east of Arusha city centre in northern Tanzania - close to town, yet quiet on the hillside with views to Mount Meru.
How far is the hotel from the airports?
Arusha Airport (ARK) for light aircraft is about 12 km away, and Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is roughly 37 km - about a 45 to 60 minute drive. Arusha city centre is 5 km.
Do you arrange airport transfers?
Yes. Send us your flight details and reception will have a driver waiting. Because the front desk is staffed 24/7, early-morning and late-night arrivals are no problem.
What is there to do around Arusha?
Plenty. Arusha is the gateway to the northern safari circuit (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Lake Manyara), and closer to home you can visit Arusha National Park, climb Mount Meru, canoe on Lake Duluti, tour a coffee farm, or explore the markets and crafts in town. See our blog for guides to each.
How close are Arusha National Park and Lake Duluti?
Very close. Lake Duluti is about 15 minutes away and makes an easy half-day of canoeing and forest walks. Arusha National Park - forest, a crater and flamingo lakes - is roughly 40 minutes from the gate.
Is Moshono Hillside a good base for a safari?
It's ideal. Most northern-circuit trips start in Arusha, so you can sleep well the night before, leave early, and come back to a calm base afterwards. Just ask reception and we'll help you arrange a reputable operator.
Is the hotel good for travelling with kids?
Yes - families are very welcome. We have swimming pools, serviced apartments with kitchens and a long-stay house for more room, and the setting is quiet and secure. Gentle outings like Lake Duluti, Arusha National Park and a market morning work well with children, and the kitchens make meals and nap times easy.
Is the hotel really solar-powered?
It is. Moshono Hillside runs on solar energy as part of our commitment to a green transition, so power stays reliable and clean.
