Our mountain, straight off the rooftop.
Africa's fifth-highest peak rises just beyond the gate - part of Arusha National Park, above the coffee-covered slopes we call home.
The peak on the horizon.
Mount Meru stands 4,565 m high - the fifth-highest mountain peak in Africa. It's part of Arusha National Park and sits 68 km west-southwest of Kilimanjaro, with its extinct crater easily accessible from Arusha city, which lies at the mountain's southern base.
The densely populated southern and eastern slopes are well watered, and the fertile volcanic soil supports many of the region's coffee plantations. Rainforest cloaks the slopes up to about 2,900 m. From our rooftop, Meru is the view that never gets old.
Climbing Meru
A guided climb of Meru is a rewarding adventure in its own right, and a favourite way to acclimatise before taking on Kilimanjaro. Ask the front desk and we'll help you arrange it.
